OTIS RAMSEY

Otis Ramsey was the son of James
D. Ramsey and Sarah Ramsey; he
was born at Sunlight, Washington
County, Missouri, on February 25,
1881, died at Tulsa, Oklahoma, on

October 10, 1931, at the home of his
daughter, Velma Ramsey Marbury
wife of Leonard R. Marbury at the
age of 50 years, 7 months and 15 days.
Mr. Ramsey is survived by his mother,
Sarah Ramsey, his wife Nora Ramsey,
and the following children: Edith
Ramsey Cubley, wife of A. G. Cubley,
and their infant son, Robert Bruce
Cubley, of Chicago, Illinois; and James
Otis Ramsey of Farmington, Missouri;
and by two brothers: Clarence L.
Ramsey of East St. Louis, Illinois; and
Lee A. Ramsey of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mr. Ramsey was for years a co-partner
with David J. Huges at Farmington,
Missouri, conducting a general
hardware business, but some years ago
sold his interest and removed to his
farm east of here and in the edge of
Ste. Genevieve County, and engaged
in farming and stock raising; but on
account of failing health sold all his
stock recently and accompanied his
wife to the home of Mrs. Velma
Ramsey Marbury at Tulsa, Oklahoma,
where he died.
His funeral was conducted by Rev. J.
W. Bailey at the Christian church in
Farmington, Missouri at 2:30 o'clock,
Monday afternoon, and the following
friends of his acting as pallbearers:
Jess Turley, Bert Turley, John Gower,
David J. Hughes, William Selzer, Sr.,
and Emmett Boyd.
Otis Ramsey was human, and
therefore made mistakes; he loved his
family and was loved by them; he was
a good neighbor, a good citizen and a
industrious man; "he lived beside the
road and was a friend of all mankind,"
and the final results of his life is shown
in the education and training of three
upstanding children whom this early in
life have each shown high ideals and
christian character. - A Friend.

Otis Ramsey,
father of
Velma Ramsey Marbury, wife of
Leonard Rutledge Marbury, Sr.
