Question: Was Charles (Jr.) a son of Charles (Sr.) who died
1793 in Warren Co. NC?

Charles, Jr. first shows up in Granville Co. NC on the 1800 Census.
(Note: There are many errors in this Census and it can't be taken verbatim.)
He isn't listed on the tax lists until 1803 and is shown through 1809. Did he turn
21 years old in 1803, hence his first appearance? 7 Aug 1811, he's a
witness, along with Samuel Daniel, in regard to the estate of Philip Yancy.
Around 1811 - 1812, he moved across the Granville Co. line into Mecklenburg
Co. VA where he purchased 200 acres on 27 Feb 1812 from Thornton Puryear.
Charles still owned this land when he died in 1846.

"Georgia Weston Nichols, 94, of Clarksville (TN), died Tuesday,
Oct. 26, 1999, at Montgomery County Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the
Rev. Kim Allen officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church
with Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home in charge.

She was born Sept. 21, 1905, in Montgomery County, daughter of
Reuben and Georgia Summerhill Nichols.

Ms. Nichols was a retired secretary for Donald Gracey Loose
Floor Tobacco Company, a member of the Ringgold Community
of Clarksville and of Little West Fork Baptist Church.

Local survivors include a nephew, Charles R. Nichols, Clarksville;
a niece, Elizabeth Edwards, Clarksville; and a sister, Dorothy
Sallee, Hopkinsville, Ky.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hadley, Sr., Japhet Nussbaumer,
John Edwards III, Charles Andrew Nichols, Charles Sallee
and Bobby Durrett.
Memorials may be made to Little West Fork Baptist Church."

In 1958, the Edward Tarwater Summerhill descendants
marked the 50th Anniversary of the Summerhill Family
arrival in DeLand, Florida.
The newspaper article stated:
"Mr. Jim Ed Summerhill is shown with three of his seven sisters:
(l to r) Mrs. Robert Carey (Priscilla), Mrs. R. B. Patterson (Willie Henry)
and Mrs. P. P. Whitehair (E. T.).
The four above, with their respective families, attended a dinner
party on Wednesday in a local restaurant.
The occasion marked the 50th anniversary of the
Summerhill family's arrival in DeLand. The eight children and
their widowed mother, the late Mrs. Edward T. Summerhill, came to
DeLand from Oak Grove, Ky. on July 16, 1908 to make their home.
Not present for the celebration on Wednesday were
Mr. Summerhill's other sisters; Mrs. S. P. Pennell, Mrs. T. W. Taylor,
Mrs. Joe E. Adney and Mrs. M. S. Powell of DeLand."

Obituary - Nov. 2000

"Priscilla Summerhill Griffin, 92, of DeLand, Florida died Wednesday
November 22, 2000. Mrs. Griffin was a retired Deputy Clerk of the
Circuit Court, Volusia County, Florida. Born in Christian County,
Kentucky, she moved to central Florida in 1908. She was a member
of the Trinity Church, DeLand and member and former treasurer of the
Miriam Circle of the Church. She was a member of the Daughters of
the Confederacy. Survivors: son, Robert Carey; daughter Sandra
Armeson; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
